Mr. Ithayachandran has devoted his entire life to the struggle for Tamil freedom. In 1970, he joined a group that was fighting for Tamil freedom, which later merged with the LTTE. Since then, he has been writing about Sri Lanka, but the government has imposed a travel ban on him.
